A farm requires a big investment and lots of work! Anything that improves results and efficiency is a huge improvement. The combination of the best nest box with a perch popper accomplishes both! Our eggs are much cleaner and with less breakage. Nothing is worse than raising hens, collecting and cleaning eggs and then before packaging, finding a crack. A big waste. Now that is less frequent and time for cleaning is shorter, and the hens (after a little training) appear to really like their new nesting situation. At first, I did not think the perch popper was worth that money. I was wrong! The first box we bought quickly became a messy roost. For the next two I bought the perch popper and they remain pristine after 2 months (with 50 hens in the coop). If you wire the two boxes perch arms together, you can also use one perch popper to lower both (especially if the second box is smaller). The PP was much more sophisticated than I originally thought and have since bought a new one to install on my first nesting box. Thank you for great products! My wife, the head egg cleaner, also shares a big shout out!!
Definitely worth buying. It is a bit spendy, but it’s well made and easy to assemble. The best part is the clean eggs and clean nesting box! I opted for the perch popper which is totally worth it. No more roosting in the nesting box, no more dirty eggs. Having the eggs roll out the back is great to avoid walking in the coop all the time. The only thing is like is an automatic perch stow away option!

I bought the PerchPopper with my order of the Medium Perfect Nest Box because I had a constant problem of chickens sneaking into the nest box at night and leaving a mess to clean in the morning. It mostly happens when they start molting, and they get bullied by other chickens. The nest box becomes their go-to hiding spot. Every sundown, I had to remind myself to barricade my conventional nest boxes. Since I installed the PerchPopper, I don't have to think about it anymore. When I collect the now always clean and unbroken eggs in the late afternoon, I raise the perch with a string. I programmed the PerchPopper to automatically lower the perch back down at around midnight (far after all the chickens are settled in for the night). In the morning, the chickens have instant access to the nest boxes and go about their laying business. I can recommend this product. At first, I wished it would also raise the bar automatically. Still, now that I'm using it, I realize it's not a big deal to lift it manually when I collect the eggs. Since the Perfect Nest Box prevents the eggs from getting pecked at, I can also wait until the end of the day with gathering them.

Let the Best Nest Box Original PerchPopper open your nest box perch bar (also called a roost bar) automatically. The PerchPopper is designed to work seamlessly with all Best Nest Box models. No more extra trips out to the coop to open your nest box perch bar. The Original PerchPopper runs on two AA batteries. Saves time and gives you peace of mind that the nest box is open and ready for your hens first thing in the morning. (Batteries will last over a year. In Ohio, the two AA batteries used to operate the PerchPopper will last for 16 months.)
Keep your chickens out of the nest box every night by closing the roost bar manually. (Close it manually sometime after laying time is over OR Make sure to close before the hens roost for the night.) The closed perch bar keeps the messy night time droppings out of your nest box. The Original PerchPopper will automatically open the nest box roost bar anytime after the hens have roosted for the night.
Includes PerchPopper unit, mounting bracket, catch plate, spring assemblies (2 for large/medium extended nest box, 1 for medium/small), and hardware.

Hello, This is a good question. 3/4 INCH SPACE is needed to the RIGHT SIDE of the nest box if you are looking at the front of the nest. If you are installing your nest box as a rear roll out, no extra space is needed. The part that extends 3/4 inch past the nest box can then be installed differently and no extra space is needed to accommodate the PerchPopper. In the future, we might offer the option of a left side installation for an additional charge.
