Included in the price of every nest box we sell is the nest pad you need to start using your box right away. Many customers purchase one or more additional nest pads for convenience when cleaning their nest pad. For example, if you have an extra nest pad, you can remove the nest pad from your box to soak it and simply put in your spare while the one is being cleaned.

Every Best Nest Box can be configured as a rear or front roll out. A common use for the rear roll out configuration is to mount your nest box on a wall with the egg collection area protruding out a hole in the wall so it can be accessed without going into your coop. Currently, orders are shipping between 1 to 3 days in the order they are received. We ship nest boxes using UPS Ground service. The transit times to Texas from our shipping location are from 3-4 days depending on your specific location.

The best way to clean the nest pad is to roll it up and place it in a 5 gallon bucket of water with mild soap to soak. After soaking, use a hose to clean debris out of the pad.

There are no dividers. The chicken nesting area measures 1'x4'.

The Best Nest Box does not come with a lock for the egg collection tray lid.

The hens need to be able to reach the nest box roost bar. Typically this would be no higher than 2 to 3 foot off the floor. Placing the nest on the floor temporarily can be helpful to train hens to properly use their nesting box.

It is good to have the box installed before they are ready to lay. You can also set the nesting box on the floor. Placing the box on the floor can help train the hens to use the nesting box.

In reality because of all the variables- size of hens, behavior of your hens, and your own personal preference regarding how long you want the hens to wait, there is no exact answer.  Most farmers allow 50 birds per large nest. There are two other variables, broody hens and hens just learning to lay. Both of these factors cause out of the ordinary situations. There is no lock on the egg tray lid. Sometimes customers will create their own locking system. We have had no reports of predators being able to enter the nesting box through the egg tray. Most customers mount the nest box on the interior of their coop and the egg compartment extends past the wall of their coop. If your winters are cold enough, eggs will freeze inside any style of nest box. There are two ways to solve this problem and it depends on the severity of your winters. Add insulation to the bottom of the nest box and or egg tray. If this is not enough, add heat tape or a heated seed mat under the egg tray and then add insulation. No it is not an issue at this time. Currently a 1 to 2 week delivery time. There is a $21.00 USD brokerage fee and Canadian taxes collected by UPS prior to delivery.

All Best Nest Boxes are both front or rear roll out. All boxes and sizes are reversible. You decide if you want your box to be front or rear roll out. Every nest box can be reversed from front to rear or rear to front at anytime.

Both boxes are the same quality construction, material, design and functionality. You will see the one box has a taller roof line by 1.25". Both boxes are easy to put together. One takes longer then the other.

We can not speak specifically to ducks. Customers have mentioned using the Best Nest Box for ducks. There are a few reviews from customers stating they collected duck eggs in their Best Nest Box.

50 hens per large nest box is a comfortable number. You might want 3 large boxes for 120 hens or you could be content with 2 large boxes for 120 hens. It is a personal preference.

The hen entrance of a Best Nest Box is 8.5" tall. (The Best Nest Box has the largest hen entrance opening on the market.) The inside nesting area measures 1' x 4'.

Yes every nest has a back.

1 large nest box would work well for your flock. If you mount the box 2' or more from the floor, you would not loose space in your coop. You could also mount it as a rear roll out. It could work to mount the nest outside the coop, or your chickens could see the coop as one large nest box and ignore the Best Nest Box mounted outside the coop. The assembled dimensions of the nest are listed on each product page. You will need 48 5/16" of space by 19.25" for the height. If you assemble the box as a rear rollout, the nest will extend out 12" from the inside wall of your coop. When open, the roost bar will extend another 7.5" past the nest box.

No we do not have assembly videos. Detailed instructions are included. Each assembly is easy. One just takes longer then the other. No riveting required.

The measurements are identical between the two large nest box options, except for the height of the roof. Height difference - 1.25" The 40 minute assembly box is 1.25" shorter. The hen entrance height 8.5", depth of egg tray, etc are all the same. The quality of materials, design and construction are identical between the two nest boxes.

Most people across the country are allowing 50 to 60 hens per large nest box. There are backyard flock raisers who prefer to allow a smaller number of birds per large nest box. *Depends on size of bird and personal preference.

Hello Ross, This nest is both a rear or front rollout. You finish assembling the box so that it is either a front or a rear roll out. The rear roll out has one extra assembly step. You can change the configuration to either a front or a rear roll out box in the future if you want to make a change in your setup.
